Overview
My role as a brand ambassador included managing a social media account, creating engaging informational posts about Allen& Overy, forming partnerships with societies to advertise my events, coordinating bespoke A&O events such as a trainee panel with Bristol alumni, attending society events to represent A&O, answering questions about the firm asked by students, and providing knowledge about my experience with A&O.
Skills
Yes- I have improved vastly in all aspects of events coordinating, and marketing. With events, this was the first time I went through the full cycle of an event from inception to booking a room, contacting panel speakers, marketing the event, organising food/snacks, creating the presentation, organising the event space on the day etc all on my own, and now I feel confident in it!
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsibility, which I really enjoyed. Many brand ambassadors at Bristol have shared instagram pages for the firms they work with, but I really like that A&O gave us the creative ability to make our own pages and infographics. Similarly with events, we were able to put on/attend any events we liked which I really enjoyed, as each uni is so different.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance as a BA, first through the training days where I first learned how to use canva, edit videos etc. The mid-campaign meeting/training was also very helpful for our final employability workshop. For day-to-day matters, I always get quick answers my emails and a great point of contact for anything related to Bristol BA matters.
Culture
A&O culture and atmosphere is excellent, and I feel very lucky to be one of the BAs who experienced this at the firm on multiple occasions through A&O First, visits to the firm through Rare Recruitment, the vacation scheme, and BA training days. Everyone has consistently been kind and welcoming at A&O, and I have found it to be a very inclusive atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Bristol BA. At university, it allowed me to meet new people, become a key point of contact for people applying to commercial law opportunities, and become a mentor for people who weren't sure where to start. Career wise, it helped me build on my connections at A&O both within grad rec and trainees at the firm.
