HR Industrial Placement Student Review

My role is to help improve how we operate in the Expertise and Innovation team at Unilever. Day to day for me changes drastically. Some days I will be analysing survey data, looking at employees thoughts on the team and thinking of ideas as to how this data can be improved. Other days I will do things such as improving how onboarding is carried out within the team or creating resources that may improve how we operate for example.

I have learnt how to work with new software during this role such as Microsoft SharePoint, improved my Excel skills, and using 7Taps. As well as this, I have developed my teamwork and communication skills due to working with others on a lot of projects.

Yes, as a placement student you are treated the exact same as all other employees, being trusted to work on projects alone and make decisions on what we think is best in situations. As well as this, we are also given many resources and support during the whole year and are always able to ask for help when needed.

Lots of support and guidance has been given. I have been helped from the very beginning, from learning to understand the business and the structure of teams when I first started, to being supported the whole way through the year whenever I was stuck or had a query about any of the work that I was doing. I have never been left in any kind of confusion or ever felt as though I couldn't ask someone for help.

Incredible. The atmosphere from the very beginning has always been such a friendly and helpful environment. Every single person that I have ever come across and work with has always been extremely easy to get along with and have always been a pleasure to work with. As I company, I also love the values that are held and how these are always incorporated into the work that we do.

I have enjoyed the placement so much. There is nothing I would be able to fault with working in this company. I have been given do many opportunities that I have learnt from and will be able to bring with me into my future working life and also had so much that I have been able to get involved in. As well as this. my line manager and the rest of the team have been incredible people to work with.
