Overview
My role involves a Daily-stand up where I mention what I worked on yesterday and what I plan to work on today along with any blockers. We work in an agile way using Scrum and as a result may also have backlog refinement sessions where tasks are reviewed and allocated as well as sprint planning sessions where tasks are assigned to individuals for the next 3 weeks. The day may also be filled with a variety of meetings. We are also supported by a future careers committee that organise regular socials or quarterly events to expand our understanding of the business as a whole
Skills
I have gained a variety of technical of skills whilst programming in c# I have also gained lots of personal skills through VM02 provided personal development courses such as presenting, personal brand, self awareness etc I have learnt to be more proactive I have learnt a lot more problem solving skills, being given a task ranging from the design part up until the implementation and testing stages
Responsibilities
Once I was ready, I was made the sole developer on a product which gave me a lot of responsibility as I had to communicate with stakeholders as well as provide support and provide direct incremental value to the product which was used on in their day to day jobs
Support & Guidance
I was given a support structure which was a buddy - anyone that i could ask questions to. A mentor - Someone that sat outside my team that was there for support throughout the process and we have regular bi-weekly catch-ups. Lots of support from my line manager with regular 1-1's. Most importantly lots of support in my team itself, with developers sitting and taking time out to teach me how everything works.
Culture
Very Supportive
