    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I am a technical analyst working within the Service Fulfilment team. I am part of a team of analysts and specialists who monitor and provisioning all back end data for customers' services which included broadband, dtv, streaming, email and account. I interact with most of my team on a daily basis, but mostly one or two colleagues who I will need help from or am working together with them. I am responsible for one area of provisioning which I monitor daily. I am not involved in any other projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have more so developed existing skills over learnt new ones. My communication skills have increased as well as my confidence in presenting my work and findings. I pay more attention to details now and am not afraid to ask questions that I know will help better my understanding of something.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • In terms of responsibilities that could be given to me and a 13-month placement student, I believe that I was provided with a lot. Enough for me to manage without being high pressure of stressful at all. I had a good balance to understand deadlines and key industry standards within the working environment.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I always had one of my team to guide me through my day to day tasks if I needed help. My team mates were all also very helpful when I needed to reach out to them. There was also a support community which helped with my careers aspects and made sure I was comfortable on the placement

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It made me feel comfortable and relaxed at work. I felt like I could really develop my personal career goals with opportunities being plentiful and accessible in many different areas. The majority of the work is working from home which meant it lacked in social interaction however, there were many events online to get people together and meeting each other.

  • Be yourself and have a confident outlook on every situation. Get stuck in with the opportunities that you are presented with and consider every angle when analysing something.
