The Role
The work was really interesting and relevant to my Engineering Degree, The work was varied and there was always opportunity to get involved in every aspect of each project
The staff in both my own department and the rest of the Proving Ground were all friendly and approachable and all contributed to a pleasant working environment, noticeably more pleasant than that of other places I have worked.
There were times when I wasn't given much guidenace or supervision, but this was an excellent opportunity to learn and ask quiestions so I could get on with tasks on my own giving me great experience
As with any job there were quiet periods but there was a lot of work over the year and more than enough to keep me busy most of the time, with lots of overtime opportunities
I was working with a small team which gave me my own role in the main project I was working on, I was given more responsibility over a period of time and I was responsible for several important aspects of the project towards the end of the year
The whole placement has been extremely valuable and I have learned so much more than I would have done in a year at uni.
The Company
The whole team was work focussed but made each day enjoyable, the friendly atmosphere and approachable managers meant the working day was easy to enjoy, even during the busiest periods.
The placement was set up by Vauxhall and was very much focussed on a different role to my own, the initial introduction period to the Vauxhall company could have been time better spend learning about the Millbrook business and the engineering aspects.
I was never left without the equipment needed to complete each task and I was given all the relevant training I needed to accomplish the given tasks.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
I have been extended on the placement contract until I return to uni with the possibility of returning after gtraduation.
The Culture
There were lots of informal get togethers and plenty of opportunity to socialise if desired.
Unable to comment as I didn't really go out..
Didn't go out but heard it was ok...
Lots of opportunities to participate in sports / charity events with both Millbrook and Vauxhall
