Overview
I developed and maintained credit risk models for business banking and small-medium enterprise customers. On a day-to-day basis, this involved writing SAS and Python code to produce analytics, using Excel and Power BI to visualise these analytics, and communicating with stakeholders to explain the 'so what' behind them.
Skills
Programming wise, I have learnt to code in SAS and developed my Python and SQL skills. For data visualisation, I have also learnt to use Power BI and developed my Excel knowledge. The main area of improvement was my soft skills: I have massively improved my organisational skills and my written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
While I did not directly manage any projects, I was assigned critical work for the projects I was involved with and was often working independently.
Support & Guidance
I had excellent support and guidance during my placement. My team was welcoming and had a huge wealth of technical experience and business accumen.
Culture
Initially the company culture and general atmosphere was very good. However, due to the numerous reshufflings that occured during my placement, I felt that the company culture and general atmosphere shifted somewhat negatively.
Your Impressions
I found the work I did interesting and at times enjoyable. However, there were a lack of social opportunities.
No
The roles within a single department are very varied. I would encourage IPs to look for shadowing opportunities to get a better sense of what Lloyds can offer.
