    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support Cummins Marketing Operations by managing marketing collateral and digital assets that result in best-in-class literature that amplifies the power of our global brand using digital expertise and capabilities Work with the market segment communication teams and key suppliers to support the marketing collateral lifecycle process (setup, printing, fulfilment, translations, obsoletions, annual reviews) across all products and market segments. Assist in the digital asset management tool to support asset management strategies. Promote the services of the Collateral Lifecycle Management Team to the wider organization and marketing partner agencies.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Having a hybrid role has allowed me to not only develop my digital and technological marketing abilities but also office etiquette and soft skills and be able to adapt to both working environments. I have had to acquire independence due to the combination of office and remote working and having a U.S.-based manager. This has allowed me to become very action-orientated and focused and strengthened my marketing/communications knowledge.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • From the minute I arrived, I was treated like a real and trusted employee, where my opinions were valued. This allowed me the confidence to believe in myself and my abilities and become an engaged and proactive member of the team. I now feel equipped and confident in my skills and within myself as I continue to work in the marketing and sales field.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The guidance and the array of support and guidance I received was fantastic. I had support from my manager, my on-site mentor, my onboarding buddy (the previous placement students), the wider marcomms team, my site and the site’s placement student cohort. They were all kind and welcoming and were always there to offer help and support, and I have been able to build strong mentors as well as friends.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • As a passionate team worker/player who loves to engage and collaborate with my colleagues, I feel aligned to Cummins in believing that it is by working together and producing the right company culture, we can help support the Marketing Communications team and achieve the company’s expert customer service marketing and sales objectives and the company as a whole. And generally, all staff are kind and supportive.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I largely enjoyed my placement. I was treated like a true member of staff and given lots of responsibility and trust. I have learnt so much about the company, the industry as well as marketing and communications as a whole. It has been an incredibly motivating and inspiring year which has confirmed my love of and passion to work in this field.

  • Do your research to learn more about the amazing company that Cummins is and the great work they do so you are fully equipped for your application. Cummins has an amazing work culture, so don't be afraid to be yourself.
