Assisting with the design and implementation of systems in projects, along with performing calculations to back up the design. Speaking internally with the team regularly to discuss project work. Also, speaking to external clients when required.

Learnt a number of new CAD skills, along with a lot of new technical knowledge. I have developed my communication, teamworking and self-management skills. These skills have been improved through the work that I have completed while on different projects but also just being in a working environment.

Yes, quite early on in my placement I felt that I had become quite a key part in the team. I also felt that as time went on I was given bigger roles in projects and tasks which helped me develop myself further.

I received a lot of support during my placement. My Line Manager was very supportive with any questions I had or if I became a little stuck on a piece of work. The team around me was also very supportive and I found myself going to many different people if I required any help.

The company culture is very good and you almost instantly feel like you belong there. The atmosphere around the workplace is also very good, I found myself getting along with everyone who I interacted with no matter how high up in their role they were.

I have really enjoyed my time on placement at Mott MacDonald. The experiences I have gained will be very helpful for my future career and aspirations. The workplace environment has a very good balance to it, you never feel too under pressure while at the same time you are pushed to produce your best work which I find brings the best out of me.

Don't be afraid to talk about yourself, let people know what kind of a person you are. Also, don't worry if you feel like you don't know everything, the support on offer is great so you never feel out of place.
