    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In this role, I have been supporting the Application Engineering Team with optimization of engineering project management for current and new applications. Lead and supported turbocharger application and worked in projects alongside customer/application engineers and various cross-functional experts. Other tasks include working with multiple Global OEMs from technical information exchange and project developments in Engineering and collecting technical information and planning work accordingly have been notable work role in my everyday life at Cummins.

  • Yes, I have developed and learnt a wide range of skills from a technical area, to developing interpersonal and organisational skills. Developed a PDP to support my CPD and professional goals aligning with the Cummins projects' and work responsibilities for individual development.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During the initial phases of my tenure as placement, I was predominantly involved in supported smaller segments and responsibilities. Thereafter with technical skills honed and developed over, I have begun to lead projects from committed OEM partners and as time elapsed, I have had opportunities to contribute myself for creating an environment for new business opportunities and had opportunities for business visits to Customer/OEM sites has been a valuable experience, with a wider team focus on a common objectives have been supportive to drive forward.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • In regards to the support and guidance, I have had a smooth transition into the Organisation with a team of supportive approach whenever I need support and advice. This has been valuable and appreciate the importance of work commitments here that I have received here from my peers and other colleagues in the team, and experts from various cross-functional teams globally.

  • The company culture and general atmosphere at Cummins have been characterized by several key aspects based on the Inclusive and a Diverse environment that promotes a culture where different perspectives are valued, and there is a strong emphasis on equality, fosters a culture of innovation with flexible working arrangements and support for personal well-being.     Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed every aspect of my placement at Cummins, and having the curious mindset as every day is not the same and and have loved to role responsibilities. Last, but not the least, had a great time meet many new people and thus building up professional connections in the industry has indeed been great!

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins
  • Before Cummins: Apply early as possible, and try to show and create the best version of yourself. Do proper research about the company, about products and the work responsibilities. At Cummins: Build up professional connections, and create a positive environment at the Office. Don't hesitate to ask if you have something to ask as there is no such question being stupid and it's all a part of the learning process. Even if hybrid working environment, try aim to be on-site as much as possible, as it helps to get yourself much familiar and for others around you, and enhance to presence by sharing your insights.
