    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I joined IBM as a member of the IBM Consulting UKI People Operations team, managed by Jo Cunliffe, where I was responsible for organising and running professional new hire inductions (B7 to Band B Partner), coordinating Market PRRs and SRRs, managing the offboarding process for professional employees, supervising contractor IDs and maintaining IBM’s distribution lists. My role provided me with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, such as public speaking and organisation. Additionally managing the scheduling of PRRs and SRRs

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes I was given a lot of responsibility. Being in a small team meant that we had to take on individual task loads with little people to ask for help. This meant I had to stay very organized and on top of my workload. This was challenging at first, but definitely beneficial in the end as it has definitely prepared me for work after my university degree. A lot of the skills I learnt I will be able to transfer and use through out my career.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • At IBM there are always people offering support. This is very useful when needed, especially at the start of my placement. However, I believe it is important to not be too reliant on others. Making sure you give everything a go before reaching out for help. This is something I have noticed IBM really embodies and I agree with.
