    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Working as a development intern within film and TV, I'm exposed to the television development process consisting of reading book and script submissions, providing coverage, book and script synopsizing, proofing scripts, writing beat sheets, collating film and TV round-ups, creating talent lists, taking on a runner role and attending internal meetings.

  • I have learnt so much about the news, film and TV industry and acquired a plethora of new skills at each placement, such as developing my critically thinking and analytical skills, deepening my knowledge within the production and development of news, films, and TV creation process, strengthening my teamwork skills, learning how to take on leadership roles to support my team and building my confidence within the industry and how to conduct myself professionally.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given differing amount of responsibility depending on what company I was interning at and my responsibility developed throughout my time at each place. I also had the chance to lead on projects in the ERG groups I am part of.

  • I had good support from the early careers team, HR, my managers, people on my team, my mentor and in the wider company throughout my internship and now have regular meetings with my manager to discuss how I am doing and what I can do to better myself.
