Overview
On the first day, there were training and opening keynotes by different staff working at PwC. The next few days consisted of shadowing an employee, sitting it on client calls and internal meetings. There were also opportunities for question and answer, getting to know the different networks of the company, its working environment and support that the employee gets.
Skills
It definitely enhanced my understanding of the job done in the particular department that I applied to. I also learnt about confidentiality and importance of compliance - being professional is also an important skill. Lastly, taking initiative is also an important skill that I managed to develop.
Business Insight
There was definitely a lot of options given to interns, and I received much explanation on what the different departments were about. The support system in the company was also very sound, and everyone takes charge of their own career development - all the employees made it very clear. There are multiple roles and you must take initiative to get to know what you want and apply for it.
Culture
The company culture was overall a very calm one, and the office was a very conducive place to work, with open hot desks or rooms to collaborate together or take calls. The office also provided much support for the employees, such as free coffee or fruit to refresh employees. The company culture was also one where hierarchy is not a barrier; everyone is very supportive of each other - and help is accessible.
Your Impressions
I absolutely enjoyed the insight as I got to meet new friends, and I got an insight to how to job actually works. I got many of my questions answered and definitely developed a much better understanding of the job than simply reading up about it. It was a memorable experience overall.
