Overview
The day differs on a day-to-day basis and is very dependent on what projects are due and when. Essentially, my role as an intern was helping the team in preparing the supporting documents which are required for the preparation of the statutory accounts.
Skills
I have built on my communication skill by communicating with other finance teams from different regions when working on a task that required region-specific information. In addition, I've developed my time-management skills by learning how to prioritise specific tasks based on their deadlines. These are just to say a few as there are many others!
Responsibilities
I was entrusted with completing specific tasks and always felt supported while doing it. If I ever needed to ask questions, I felt completely comfortable in doing so thanks to my incredible team.
Support & Guidance
From someone who didn't come from an accounting background, I was supported by my team from the beginning and all along the way as well. Whenever I was unsure of something, my team was always on hand and willing to help and I never felt like a burden by asking too many questions.
Culture
Hilton has an amazing corporate culture where everyone is very friendly and there isn't extreme pressure on you in the workplace.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and I was extremely grateful for the opportunity. In addition, the Hilton benefits were great and it really is a great place to work.
