    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involves working internally with sales and marketing teams to see how our products, alongside competitors, are performing and the reasons behind these trends. I also work with external retailers to discuss which products would fit best in their stores, and how we can maximise sales for both parties.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills as well as developing and enhancing skills I already had. The main skill I have learnt is organisation. Working closely with analytics requires very strong organisation to know where everything is kept and to make sure things are easily accessible. Furthermore, I have learnt strong communication skills by working with retailers.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes - I have been given lots of responsibility. I work independently on delivering reports on a monthly basis which I'm solely responsible for. Furthermore, I have been allowed to work with retailers very closely and liaise with them about work I have done independently too. I have enjoyed the level of responsibility I have been given.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I have been given lots of support and guidance throughout my internship. My line manager has been thoroughly supportive throughout, making sure my workload isn't too high and I'm able to have a healthy work-life balance. My team regularly answer questions I have no matter how silly and always offer a helping hand.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
  • I would suggest to demonstrate your skills that you have already more than focusing on the Uni degree you are studying. It is super important to be friendly and open-minded and up for a challenge. It is important to be curious and not be afraid to voice your opinions about something.
