Overview
I manage four online beauty retailer accounts. This involved daily interactions with external members of each retailer. I ensure all promotions have gone live, pricing is correct product content is all up to date and optimised. Along side this I support the brand's social media presence, through interacting with creators, suggesting and approving content and reviewing our performance alongside the category.
Skills
I have really developed my confidence and people skills, through frequent interactions with people I am not familiar with and presenting. I have also learnt many new skills, such as how to use a range of softwares and tools. I have also developed my knowledge of the category and how best to present product online to target the right audience.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot more responsibility than I initially thought I was going to receive. I have sole responsibility for four major online retailers. Although I receive approval from my manager for certain actions, he also trusts me to make important decisions alone. I am also trusted to liaise with external people.
Support & Guidance
I have received a lot of support throughout my placement. When we started the HR team were always available to help us settle in. As I became more confident in my role, I could also identify areas I needed more specific support in, which my manager was willing to help with.
Culture
The company culture is really supportive, with everyone willing to support you if you need assistance. There is also a good social side, with frequent team away days and rewards for outstanding work. I enjoy going to the office to interact with everyone in person and gain face to face support
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I have gained a wide range of skills and knowledge since I have started. I have also received a large amount of responsibility in my role than I initially anticipated, which was daunting at first but in the end enabled me to progress faster and become more confident in my role
Yes
I would say it is important to stay aware of what is happening in the news, online and in real life to ensure you are up to date and able to use that knowledge to positively influence your work. It is also important to stay curious and ask as many questions as you need to ensure you make the most of your placement
