    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is split between two departments firstly Pricing, where we manage products and promotions to help revenue performance. For example we orchestrate sales like the "EMEA Save up to 20%" Campaign, by identifying need markets, reporting on performance and actually putting the sale on the shelf. The other department is the Revenue Analysts which use a wide range of coding languages to produce high level reports from lots of different data sources. You'll learn VBA, SQL, AWS and some python and be ale to use it to suit the businesses best needs to aid revenue decisions.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • New skills: VBA, SQL. AWS, Python and coding in general. I've had constant practice of data analysis and to ability to tell the story of data within a pitch deck. Working between two teams enhances teamwork skills and adaptability. Opportunities to train others, deliver presentations and lots of activities outside of the day job have allowed me to improve in areas I never thought I would.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes from the second month I was creating pitch decks to help the wider department (112 people) to understand revenue performance of the sale. I've launched products that are bookable on the Hilton website, completed 3 coding projects that are used in my department on a weekly basis. This role is not short of responsibility.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The first six weeks of the placement was all a rigid training program with homework exercises to build on 1-1 sessions. I had 2 1-1's with my boss every week and 11 1-1's over the course of a month with both of my bosses. Help and guidance was always offered.
