I worked under Claudia Brind-Woody within the Service motion of the Sales Ecosystem. I also closely collaborated with the EMEA Techbroker Leader (Bob Evans) within the Build motion of the Sales Ecosystem. Responsibilities: I have become the focal point of the UKI GSI Team, in terms of organisation, collaboration, information and communication. - Creation and maintenance of the UKI Service Management Deck. - Creation and weekly distribution of Pipeline and Skills (Badges and Certifications) reports. Much more
Skills
Hugely developed skills in Excel, Python and IBM Sales Cloud. Lots of opportunity to learn any technical skills you could think of. Also developed soft skills; interpersonal skills, time management, organisational skills, etc.
Responsibilities
Yes. I was responisble for managing UKI GSI Management systems, creating and distributing revenue analysis reports. Facilitating a variety of events and much more
Support & Guidance
IBM has created a working environment which not only enables, but encourages you to seek support from your peers. It would not be odd for an employee of my level (intern) to reach out to very senior staff. If you want the support, all you have to do is ask.
Culture
Integrity, collaboration and inclusivity are the three words that first come to mind. It is evident that IBM has hugely invested in creating a culture that enables and encourages. A sense of hierarchy, although still present, does not take its traditional form. Employees of any level will often come in to contact with those much senior.
Your Impressions
At the end of the day, this is a job and a lot is expected of you. I would often find myself very stressed and totally consumed by my responsibilities. I enjoyed plenty of the aspects of the role, and did not enjoy plenty more. This does not mean that I don't value the experience. I have learnt more in this past year than I did in the prior 20. The experience I have gained has provided me with a great foundation to build a career within business. Whether I enjoyed every second of it is a different measure entirely.
Yes
Be yourself. IBM will receive thousands of applicants with impressive resumes and qualifications. Do not attempt to use your credentials as your differentiators. IBM is all about growth, if you can demonstrate that you are your own person with a passion for learning and are prepared to dedicate yourself to growth, you stand a fighting chance.
