Overview
The brand management team develops and delivers brand strategy for each of the brands in the EMEA portfolio, as well as tactical plans to reach brand goals. The intern's role is to support the team with this. The day-to-day varies as the role is very project dependent. Although brand projects take up most of the time, some more consistent responsibilities include brand standard updates, name and management company approvals and desktop research. The brand management team also works with many different departments, so as an intern you get to work with different teams to deliver projects, ranging from product guides to workshop events.
Skills
Throughout the internship I have developed my Excel and PowerPoint skills, as well as learning new platforms and software to obtain commercial data, send comms to hotels, look at guest experience etc. I have also gained a strong understanding of the hospitality industry, and improved soft skills such as time management, organization, team work and communication.
Responsibilities
I have been given a high level of responsibility, owning multiple projects, working with senior colleagues and feeling valued by the team.
Support & Guidance
When I started I was given an onboarding program for the first few weeks. Throughout the placement I have had weekly one to one meetings with my manager, and I have felt comfortable to ask any questions or for any support when needed.
Culture
The working environment is very friendly and there are many opportunities to get involved in events at the office such as after work socials and sessions to learn about different departments or different team member groups such as Pride and Abilities.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement year. I have enjoyed being part of my team who have given me lots of opportunities, allowing me to gain a deep understanding of brand management. I have also appreciated the work culture and how social it is, as well as team member benefits such as the discounted hotel program.
