Overview
I work on the engineering learning programmes, helping add content if needed as well as ensuring the right people see it and it gets promoted around the organisation. Alongside that I work on all of the data analysis for the team creating dashboards when requested and updating existing ones
Skills
I have learnt gamification; by creating a game for process engineers so that they can have a more fun learning experiences. As well as developing my data analysis and data visualisation skills.
Responsibilities
Yes I was, I was given my projects and then allowed the freedom and responsibility to meet my targets however I see fit and come up with new and creative solutions to help increase certifications for our global learning programmes. As well as being allowed the creative freedom to present the data in the dashboards the best way I thought, but always getting feedback to improve them
Support & Guidance
My manager always provided support and guidance whenever I asked her for help, she would always be there. If I ever needed any clarification on anything the whole team would always be happy to help as well. Everyone was always very willing to help when it was within their scope or point me in the right direction when they couldn't help
Culture
It was a very friendly and welcoming culture, everyone wanted to see you bring out the best in yourself which would mean that you would contribute the most you possibly could to the team.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It was a very new experience never working in a corporate environment before, however everyone was very nice and welcoming and as a result I felt as though I brought my best self to my placement and the opportunities brought out the best in me. I was allowed to develop the skills that I wanted to and given the freedom to carry out my projects how I thought was the best always achieving what was needed.
Yes
The application process may be difficult and it will require you to take time when applying but it is definitely worth it. The opportunities presented at Unilever are a lot, because it is such a big organisation. There will also always be a project for you to get involved in and somewhere where you can see and feel that you are adding value because there are so many things to do. It takes time to get into your role and the team that you are in but once you do it is definitely an amazing company.
