Overview
Changes depending on what projects are running at the moment. Involves but not limited to: building business cases, researching companies and their industries, reading and extracting info form annual reports, creating stories and informative presentations based on third party data, using internal tools to convey potential benefits to clients.
Skills
Learned how to navigate annual reports including balance sheets and income statements, over time learning how to assess certain details of financial health of a company. Learn how to efficiently and effectively research companies and their respective industries while building a case to present and communicate findings professionally and convincingly
Responsibilities
I was given large amounts of responsibility, work would come to me but largely had to go and find work. Sometimes the learning curve was gradual while other times you were thrown in the deep end. Including work which would stay internal as well as customer presented
Support & Guidance
Received a lot of support from all team members I reached out too as well as being asked if there is anything I may require assistance with. If help was needed there was no worry that I would be on my own to figure it out if I get properly stuck and hence would not waste any time progressing and learning.
Culture
Very open and friendly, you have to ability to speak and get to know people on all levels. You are treated as an employee instead of an intern, you are part of SAP and the team. Everyone is willing to help and want to make sure you are comfortable
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my placement year and learned a lot about myself. However at some points would have like some more engagements, this is not always possible as projects may not be fully up and running or started as you are here.
Yes
Take the opportunity to not only work within your role but to reach out to any other department which may be of your interest. The team will try their hardest to include you in any project and any team is happy to have you on board. Expand your horizon
