Overview
I work in video production in the Immersive Studio, recording customers, partners and colleagues within SAP for interviews, press releases and marketing assets. I edit creative video requests and often travel off-site to film events and produce aftermovies. Being in the Creative Team also involves designing creative assets for user interaction and experience, for personalised showcases and summits.
Skills
Coming from a video production background, I have never done graphic design work before but was still trusted to work on customer design projects from the first few months. This allowed me to learn whilst doing, mentored by experienced professionals and a collaborative team. The placement also took my video editing skills to a higher level, experimenting with new tools and more complex software to create sophisticated and creative videos.
Responsibilities
Absolutely. Being "thrown" into direct customer-facing projects from the first months of the placement allowed me to adapt quickly to new environments and acquire new skills fast, whilst being supported and mentored by more experienced team members throughout. The level of trust and responsibility SAP gives to interns is unmatched, and I really felt like making an impact with my work rather than satisfying basic admin tasks that other placement providers might give interns.
Support & Guidance
Although I worked independently most of the time, support and guidance was always available if I asked or reached out to anyone.
Culture
Very diverse, inclusive, ambitious and supportive. It made me feel like I fit in and motivated me to produce good work beyond expectations to meet the standards. It is definitely a productive work environment that values constant innovation, creativity and ambition!
Your Impressions
It was the best placement experience I could ever ask for, both for my professional and personal development.
Yes
Be confident, be curious, be ambitious, and hardworking. Definitely look into the company culture before applying, as SAP really values hiring the right people beyond just their professional experience. Sell yourself as a unique individual than can benefit the company in any way, whether it is leveraging your multicultural background, international experiences, personal interests and achievements, or even unique personality traits.
