    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Supported the previous EMEA North president with her customer engagements. This involved preparing customer briefings, writing emails on behalf of the president to other C-Level executives, taking actions from customer meetings and following up internally. I also supported with customer facing events, including Wimbledon and the Monaco Grand Prix, preparing the CEO with customer briefings of those that were attending.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have significantly improved my communication skills, having had to talk to new colleagues every day and send emails on behalf of the president.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • It very much varies depending what team you are involved with. My previous manager was really keen for me to take over her role as customer officer when she went on leave, however following the SAP restructuring, the teams changed and I was no longer given the same level of responsibility. Sometimes the ‘intern’ position is limiting and people will keep you in a role, despite your wish to progress.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had weekly 1:1 calls with my previous manager, which was amazing as she was keen to push my development. However, the structural reorganisation has affected the support since then, as my team has completely changed, leaving me without a team and manager.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I’ve loved doing a placement because it has given me an opportunity to develop my own skills and enter a completely different environment to university. I have been very lucky to be able to get so involved in so many different parts of SAP, and whilst I feel that I could have been given more responsibility, I have still really enjoyed my time here.
