Overview
Variety of tasks. Tasks usually differ every week. Learning process and techniques used in the industry and learning from experts in the field.
Skills
I have massively grown my finite element analysis skills. I have also had the opportunity to use my knowledge in thermofluids in my role. My time keeping skills along with teamwork and communication have grown massively.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility in tasks such as planning certain events but also being trusted to conduct work that was on a deadline for a customer.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance and help from my team. Starting the placement, the early careers team were helpful in getting us settled into our teams and making sure we met with all the other interns in the same position as us.
Culture
The company culture is alright but there still is a hierarchy based on your role. Some of the graduates would look down at the interns and I have heard some stories about sexism and racism from certain managers from other interns and graduates.
Your Impressions
I personally enjoyed my placement. I would love to come back and continue in my role in the future. My team were inclusive, young and friendly.
Yes
Be very positive and optimistic! Be wary that there are many other people who want the same role as you too so expect competition. Show off you, your personality and don't forget your university projects - they want to hear this!
