Overview
Most days involve a meeting and catching up with my manager to discuss what problems or tasks I am currently working on and discussing opportunities to help out in wider areas in my account. For one of my roles, I help coordinate the logistics of all TT EMEA leadership team meetings, preparing supporting documentation, logging of opportunities from cadence calls, and producing frequent reports (e.g., singings, pipelines, roadmap, B&P).
Skills
Communication with seniors, teamwork and leadership, perseverance, Public speaking, Office 365, a plethora of systems and software such as Jira, ProM, Workday, Adobe Premier Pro etc. Have developed many of my existing skills through the vast experiences IBM offers either within UK Consulting or foundation events and Business resource group (BRG) events.
Responsibilities
Operating the resource trackers, dealing with clients and executing the presentation of All Hands calls (+200 senior employees). I managed to run client events and work with partners in both roles supporting their goals. The responsibility was optional and if ever too much, I could communicate to get help but I learnt the most within these opportunites.
Support & Guidance
My Task manager was excellent in keeping up good communication, support and looking out for me. She would always try to get me involved with accounts and wider IBM consulting events. She would offer time for feedback and daily calls.
Culture
Generally, everyone was very friendly, the culture was inclusive and most people were always willing to support. Would find that sometimes senior colleges would not always reply so would have to spend a fair amount of time chasing people to get data or results that affect the revenue.
Your Impressions
Loved nearly every moment, this internship has supported my development to a high extent and prepared me for graduate jobs as well as boosted my confidence and industry knowledge.
Yes
Be yourself, if you have to pretend to be someone just to fit in, you will find yourself drained, not enjoying your internship and feeling unaccomplished. Don't expect to get a graduate job just because you get into a placement.
