Overview
Working on day to day manufacturing tasks such as raising concessions, supporting the shop floor, trial fitting, etc.
Skills
Yes, I have learnt new CAD software such as CATIA V5 and 3DX. Also learnt how to better work in a team and communicate better with my colleagues. Learnt about the Airbus values along the way and how I can implement them in my day to day work.
Responsibilities
Yes
Support & Guidance
I received plenty of support, from not just my direct management but also from my other colleagues who are more experienced than me. In terms of engineering skills, but also in terms of soft skills.
Culture
The company culture is very supportive. Airbus follows a speak-up culture where every problem is reported and a solution is found as a team. Airbus is very diverse and inclusive, and it continues to work on finding ways to make the working environment even more inclusive. The general atmosphere is very good and I look forward to working everyday.
Your Impressions
I enjoy my placement a lot as there is something new to work on every single week. Sometimes things are a bit slow as we have to rely on other people to further guide us through a project, which can take time as people are busy but when the project advances and the work picks up, it becomes quite intense for a few days which I enjoy as I like challenges.
Yes
Make sure you know Airbus inside and out before applying, and that you are genuinely passionate about Airbus and the aerospace industry in general.
