Overview
Day-to-day I would be editing YouTube videos, posting YouTube videos across many channels, and optimising them (creating titles, descriptions and thumbnails), as well as briefing editors on the videos that I would like them to create for me to post. I also create newsletters for my internal team, and attend meetings with a range of smaller teams within the AVOD team. I have also been involved in the creation of assets and ideas for new YouTube channels and the ordering of films and NBCU content for the channels.
Skills
I have learnt how to use Adobe PhotoShop and PremierePro as well as the internal scheduling and calendar systems.
Responsibilities
I have been given a good amount of responsibility during my internship. I have been posting to around 20 YouTube channels throughout, as well as getting involved in other projects like content days. With all of the responsibility I have been given, I have also had my managers and team supporting me with everything. It seems that I am given the same amount of responsibility as a lot of the people that I am working with, which makes me feel like a full member if the team and great that they trust us with all the responsibility.
Support & Guidance
During my internship, I have regular meetings with my manager who helps if I have any questions or need help with anything, as well as informal chats to get guidance if needed. At the beginning of the placement, the old interns provided handovers which explained the each of the tasks in my role and how to do it, which was very useful.
Culture
The overall company culture seems very friendly, welcoming and inclusive. Particularly, in my team, there was a great culture with everyone supporting each other and having good relationships with each other, meaning that people were not only friends in work but also outside of work.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my internship. I have loved getting to learn new things and have the chance to experiment with my work. Also, getting to know my team and working within the close knit team has made the experience even better. I have also had lots of opportunities to get to talk to other teams and managers in the company to learn about the other roles available and everyone is super helpful in giving tips and advice for after university when it comes to applying for and getting jobs.
Yes
Definitely apply. The company culture is really great, and it is exciting being in a cohort with 90 other interns. Just give your role a chance, even if it is not what you expected, and try to make the most of it.
