Overview
Everyday is different but a usual day to day basis would be creating a batch of a personal care product, either on a lab or pilot scale. Then, I would analyse the batch using a set of analytical techniques to see if it conforms to the standard. As well as this, I would also be writing up reports and analysing data.
Skills
I have gained new technical skills in characterisation as well as developed my existing skills such as data analysis, leadership and organisation.
Responsibilities
I was given some responsibility, in creating and conducting my own experimental projects.
Support & Guidance
I have received an immense amount of support and guidance in not just my placement work, but my university work which definitely made a difference on making it easier to manage my time.
Culture
Definitely friendly and very open. Everyone is willing to help which definitely makes you comfortable to ask questions.
Your Impressions
Whilst I have enjoyed it, there were times it was tough due to the nature of the work.
Yes
Make sure to be yourself. Unilever thrives on a culture of everyone being friendly, open so this definitely helps in applying.
