Overview
I worked within the Regional Human Resource Department, helping with the day-to-day employee life cycle matters. This included onboarding new starters, as well as completing the processes for probations, absences, promotions, leavers etc. The other aspect of my role included assisting in any HR matters regarding the Global Development Team. This included aspects such as position management, merit reviews, talent reviews, learning and development, JD creation or salary analysis etc
Skills
I was able to develop various skills during my internship such as my communication, presentation and software skills. I entered the corporate environment with little to no knowledge on Excel and I am leaving feeling confident in my Excel skills! This placement was an amazing opportunity to gain the practical skills on the employee life-cycle processes and I look forward to using the knowledge and skills I have learnt in my final year at university.
Responsibilities
As a HR Consulting Intern I was responsible for looking after the employee life-cycle processes which have been assigned to me. It included sending the right information, to the right people at the right time. For example, when onboarding new starters if you were processing the new Team Member it was your responsibility to ensure they receive the welcome emails, invites to orientation, benefits information as well as that they are processed correctly for payroll etc. Even with a lot of aspects being my responsibility, I still received amazing support if needed.
Support & Guidance
Plenty of support and guidance offered throughout my whole internship. It was great working in an organisation where everyone genuinely cares about you and wants to help you reach your full potential.
Culture
Extremely positive and supportive culture! Everyone has been incredibly nice and welcoming. The environment was formal but also flexible and relaxed. The company has a very fun social side with plenty of events throughout the year.
Your Impressions
This internship has been an amazing experience which I could not have been more grateful for. I feel extremely lucky to have secured an internship which correlates to my degree as well as my interests. I have not only gained great knowledge and skills in the HR discipline but also met incredible people and made the most out of the benefits and social aspects at Hilton.
