    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The programme was insightful and interesting. Throughout the four days, we attended talks/panel discussions introducing DB (including its history, values, company culture, etc.), different divisions within the bank (what they do, who their clients are, etc.), and some basic concepts in finance/markets. We also had the chance to network with current employees in DB and learn about their day-to-day work and their career stories. Additionally, there were many interactive workshops where we got the opportunity to have hands-on experiences. We participated in workshops about corporate culture and employability skills (interview skills, presentation skills, etc.), as well as trading simulations and stock pitching practice, where we learned the fundamentals of being an analyst.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely. As a non-finance background student, I have learned a lot in terms of professional/technical knowledge. I learned about different divisions within an investment bank and how financial markets are influenced by different factors, etc. Moreover, throughout the event, participation in group projects and networking events strengthened my teamwork, leadership skills, and interpersonal skills. Also, workshops on employability and interview preparation helped me improve my public speaking, critical thinking, interviewing, and communication skills greatly.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was amazing! Before this programme, I was interested in but never really understood what people do on a daily basis in their jobs in investment banks. Through this programme, I was able to learn more about the financial industry, the divisions, and the roles. I was genuinely attracted to some of the work I experienced during this programme and this helped me make a more informed decision about my future career.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
  • 1. Learn more about DB before you apply: it's very important to think about why you would want to explore more about DB and work in DB -- and that's based on your understanding of the company. 2. Be yourself: when doing online assessments or phone interviews, it's crucial to be yourself and be genuine, so that both you and DB can find out whether you fit in this company/role or not.
