The Role
Work was interesting, really enjoyed it.
Everyone who i have met and worked with have been fantastic, i have loved every minute of it!
Everyone was very approchable and offered loads of support and guidence
Always had stuff to do, often doing more than one task, but they were nice enough to not give me too much so i could be home by 8pm every night.
Obviously you cant expect a vac scheme student to be doing work that is billable to a client on their own, but i was able to assist those with billable tasks and had an important role so a large amount of responsibility was given.
This was a fantastic insite in to Pinsents and the varying world of law and was a great placement.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and fantastic, definately recommend Pinsents OTC department!!! We had lots of banta and fun throughout!
Everything was really well organised, which i was informed before by friends who had previously done the scheme that this might not be the case. However everything was well delivered and set out. Despite only being in the OTC department i feel i have come away with great knowledge of all other areas of the firm, which must be from their placement organisation and set up.
Apparently in non credit crunch years there were much more entising dinners/lunches/drinks. We did something each week with the trainees which was paid for but not a vast budget, however in terms of time that they invested it was everything. From trainees to partners, they couldnt dedicate enough to you and making you feel at home at the firm.
Subsidised Canteen
My interview did not go well as was the morning after a weekend of all work and no sleep...literally...so is my own fault that they wont offer me a TC, but i did feel if i had have done well in that the prospects would have been good. Once you are in the organisation there is more than enough opportunity to venture up the ladder and loads of prospects.
The Culture
We had two socials which were good and had a great time, but we all finished at different times and many of us live quite far away so not many after work gatherings. We did meet for lunch and breakfast etc though!
Rent is quite expensive in leeds and the places we were taken to drink were more expensive. Would have extra money you can burn, as through drinking costs, transport and food the vac scheme money will soon dissappear!
Its great!
There were sporting groups etc but my floor was to busy for socialising and activities etc so not a good person to judge this question!
