Responsibilities
Yes, I was able to own projects as well as being given high responsibility supporting other projects. e.g. These include coordinating workshops in three countries (London, Frankfurt, and Warsaw), supporting a livestream brand event, owning a bedding guide projct and being the main point of contact, and various other initiatives. my manager said towards the end of my internship, I am working almost at an executive level with the amount of responsibility and ownership I get over my work.
Support & Guidance
The team are very supportive and always give really good feedback on my work, this has led us to work as a well-oiled team where communication is always clear. I always feel supported when working and am always comfortable with asking questions or asking for help when unsure. Tasks are always given in a clear manner and in a supportive way. I have also had lots of support through HR, who support the intern program. They keep us regularly updated throughout the year as well as giving us opportunities to get to know each other through activities.
Culture
Hilton was voted the number 1 work place to work in the last year so I would say this is a huge indication for the culture and general atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and supportive and the company as a whole really care about our well being and inclusion within the workplace. Our Team Member Resource Groups (TMRGs) and Mosaic groups are a great example of the inclusive and warm culture that Hilton has.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It gave me invaluable experience which will help me with my future after university. I have learned and improved so many hard and soft skills working here as well as made lots of great friends through the internship program. My role was really exciting allowing theory at university turning into real life practice through lots of new projects rolling out, as well as giving me the opportunity to see new brands such as Spark rolled out across EMEA. It has definitely made me want to come back to the hospitality industry once graduating.
Yes
During the interview stage, be yourself, let your personality shine through and the assessor will favour that. The recruitment staff are really kind and supportive so don't hesitate to ask questions about the process, the role and the company - they like that and again will favour a candidate who uses their initiative and shows interest.
