Overview
On a day to day basis my work involves testing multiple financial statement line items. These are to cover the level of risk identified in the planning stage and ensure audit assertions are completed. This varies per client and the industry. In AWM, the fee model (revenue) is a key area, as well as Cost of Sales. In addition these companies will need a separate CASS statutory audit for compliance.
Skills
I have learned greater perseverance in the face of challenging tasks, confidence in resolving issues with senior staff, improved my understanding of the AWM industry which allows for a more cohesive testing approach to my work. One thing I believe I now need to improve on is time management and the understanding of 'why' I am doing a task. To ensure I can apply my unique perspective and finish the work promptly.
Responsibilities
Yes. I had to lead high impact areas of testing for compliance with regulations such as SII and CASS.
Support & Guidance
I was checked in on by my team across various points in my placement to ensure I was able to handle my work and to raise any issues
Culture
It was fairly relaxed and open, everyone gets along with each other. There is only a rush it feels within your team to complete tasks within deadlines which is normal.
Your Impressions
I would say it has been quite insightful
Yes
Don't mess around, get the work done efficiently and call it a day.
