Overview
Day to day work will be similar to any other software engineering role. You will spend time writing software, running tests and handling documentation. There is also time set aside to learn new languages and develop skills. Your manager may also give you time to complete any Uni assignments which is very helpful.
Skills
I gained a vast knowledge in several languages one of which I had never used before. I became much more competent using software engineering tools like Git, Jenkins, Jira and I have a much better understanding of the software process now. I've also massively improved lots of generic skills like communication, presenting and my confidence in my own abilities.
Responsibilities
Yes as far as I'm aware every placement within MBDA will have you completing real, meaningful work.
Support & Guidance
I received as much support and guidance as I could've needed from people both within and outside my team.
Culture
Generally I feel like the culture is very good. Work from home and dynamic working is encouraged from the top down. There are lots of great initiatives raising awareness and inclusion. Everyone I've interacted with has been kind, welcoming and willing to help.
Your Impressions
Its been really good to spend a year out of Uni to earn money and gain skills and I don't really have anything negative to take from it.
