    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I have largely been working on risk standardisation in order to help my team with threat modelling and help the business with consistency in risk. This involves working on presentations and gathering information from the companies confluence pages. I also spend some time studying A+ and Security+ to help improve my understand of IT and learn the fundamentals of IT security.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've massively improved my presentation skills (it helped having to present to the CIO). I've learnt how to manage my time better, as deadlines are very common. This includes making focus time for studying. A new skill I've learnt it working with international colleagues, so having to be mindful of time zone differences when setting up meetings and dealing with collaborative work.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had weekly meetings with my mentor and bi-weekly meetings with my manager and another EU team member who basically acted as a second mentor. All questions I had were answered without problems and I was supoorted during my presentation when I received questions thatw ere beyond my knowledge.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very relaxed in the sense that as long as my work was done in time they didn't mind when I did it. Deadlines were not ridiculous and as placements we were told to no accept meetings past 5pm and escalate if other associates kept pushing for them. The atmosphere was also chilled in the office.
