Overview
My role mainly focuses on managing the indirect costs of our London site. I also support my manager in the management of the costs of out Doha and Dubai site too. I am responsible for approving and managing indirect budget and invoice requests from our suppliers and solving any invoice queries that may come up. I am also responsible for monthly generation and analysis of reporting packs that summarizes our spend per month
Skills
I have developed my Excel skills as well as my communication, team-working, presentation and organization skills in this role. The role has also expanded my knowledge of the aerospace sector.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility and support from the beginning of my placement itself. The placement allows you to have that sense of ownership of your work but you are given a lot of support from managers and mentors to help you to feel confident in it. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in projects throughout the year too.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support. My manager was a really big support to me from the beginning. We have regular catch-ups and she helped me a lot to reach my development plans to make sure I made the most out of my placement year.
Culture
Really friendly company culture, you feel like you are a part of the team from the beginning. Our team did monthly team-building socials which really helped to bond with the team. Overall, the company is really welcoming and senior leaders are really supportive and encouraging.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement year. It has been really insightful and has helped me to gain a lot of knowledge into how my degree can be used in a variety of sectors.

Be ready to put yourself out there and get the make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Networking is very important to help you get those development opportunities and GE is a company that has so many talented and inspirational people working for it, so definitely get yourself out there and get involved in everything.
