Responsibilities
Yes we were given much responsibility during the placement through the Be Well program. This program aims to promote wellness and well-being within the Baxter organisation. We had the responsibility to organize events such as a Walk and Talk / Healthy Eating Campaign / Flu Vaccination incentive/ Fun Day (BBQ and activities) / Mental Health Campaign and much more !
Support & Guidance
My line manager provided much support and guidance throughout my placement year as we had regular check in and catch ups on my current projects that I was working on / my personal development goals I wanted to achieve at Baxter I also frequently met my line manager in person through team meetings / product training / conferences and in the office to discuss my activity and if I needed any support. My line manager went above and beyond throughout the year to make feel comfortable and well supported in my first marketing role !
Culture
One of Baxter's cultural levers is collaboration which shows as everyone I have reached out to and worked with has been incredibly helpful and supportive. Throughout the three teams I have been involved in everyone is friendly and welcoming. Coming to the end of my placement I feel valued, respected and appreciated among my colleagues. I didn't feel like a placement student I felt like I was part of the team and I will miss my colleagues at Baxter when I return to university.
Your Impressions
Joining Baxter in June 2023 as part of the placement has been the best career choice I have ever made. I did not know much about the healthcare sector but this journey has been an amazing experience. I have attended an international conference in Sweden, I have had product training on medical devices that save lives in the operating room and I have had the privilege to work alongside some incredible people. I have loved this placement scheme and I want to work for Baxter after university !
Yes
The only advice I would recommend would be to do your own research and learn about Baxter and their products so you have better understanding of why you want to take part in the placement program
