Overview
Half of your year is spent in store. You will progress from a store assistant to an assistant store manager, where you will be displaying your leadership skills, whilst also utilising reports to identify where your store can improve. The other half of the year will be spent in head office, where you will undertake various projects to showcase your knowledge and creativity. You will also have the opportunity to shadow Area Managers throughout the year.
Skills
I have developed my time management, as I was balancing long days and early starts in store, whilst also completing university assignments. I have developed my efficiency, whilst I was in stores, as you need to be efficient to ensure everything gets done. I have also developed my leadership, as I had to lead a team with a lot more experience than me.
Responsibilities
You are given a lot of responsibility, as you will be an assistant manager in a store that you have only been in for three months. You will be making decisions that will directly impact the store, and managing a team of 20 people. Your projects, whilst in head office, also require taking on a lot of responsibility. This is because your decisions will directly impact the region.
Support & Guidance
You will have a mentor, and a 'buddy'. They are there for support at any time, and will help you when things feel tough. Also the people within Aldi are very helpful, and will try and help you any way that they can/.
Culture
It is a good culture, everyone helps each other out and respects each other.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and learnt a lot of skills that I will utilise in my final year of uni, and in my career going forwards.
Yes
Be confident in your abilities. Be prepared to work really really hard, but you will reap the rewards if you do.
