Overview
Writing job adverts, calling applicants, completing registration interviews, taking candidates through the onboarding process, matching them with roles and placing into a school.
Skills
I have massively developed my communication skills as well as my organisation. I have learnt sales skills through making calls with new and existing clients.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility as I was placed into a team where there wasn't an existing team of permanent staff. I have been treated like a permanent employee all year in terms of my role within the team which at times has been a little much, especially when I was still new and learning.
Support & Guidance
At the start I had a lot of support and guidance but due to a managerial change, my team hasn't had a manager present for the last few months of our placement which has been challenging at times. We originally also had 1 to 1s scheduled once a week to discuss how the role was going but these never ended up happening.
Culture
My team was based in an office with no other Randstad teams so we felt a little cut off at times. The few occasions where we did interact with other Randstad employees was really good as everyone I've ever had contact with has been really lovely and welcoming.
Your Impressions
Overall I would say I have enjoyed my placement year but at times I haven't been treated the best by some of my colleagues which obviously meant I wasn't enjoying myself.
No
Make sure you're applying for a role in an already established team. Having colleagues in your office will really help in your professional development, even in the way of mimicking the way they do their job.
