Overview
My role involves creating and analysing models to forecast the future of the energy industry. Use of excel, energy modelling software, python and power BI. Speaking to stakeholders and team meetings.
Skills
Yes I have learnt so much. You are treated as a normal employee, which means that you learn from day 1. Learnt a lot of technical skills, but mostly personable skills and how to act in a professional manner. Invaluable skills that I will take so the me for life.
Responsibilities
Yes a lot of responsibility from day 1. You are given personal projects that you can lead which will be very valuable work for the team. I felt like I have made a big difference for the team but also the industry.
Support & Guidance
A lot of guidance and support. You have 2 managers, one for more welfare issues and one for your work day to day. We have training around our well-being and the culture is very focused on supporting eachother.
Culture
Very supportive and positive environment, everyone is around to support. We all have a clear goal of helping the industry reach net zero and that comes across in all meetings and around the office.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it greatly. I wouldn’t have changed my placement year. Very grateful for the company and my team. I felt up and down, but that would be the same at any company due to my lack of experience in any office.
Yes
Interviews are based on skills and competencies. Ask questions back to National grid and do your research.
