  • As an Undergraduate Power Systems Engineer, I support the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems. Each day, I work on optimizing power generation, transmission, and distribution systems using tools like PSS/E, ETAP, and MATLAB/Simulink. I assist senior engineers with technical reports, drawings, and documentation while also contributing to renewable energy projects. Field visits and inspections are part of my routine, helping ensure project compliance with safety and regulatory standards. I engage in research and development to explore innovative solutions for improving power system efficiency. Additionally, I prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and timelines, and document findings in technical reports. Participating in team meetings, I provide technical support and contribute to problem-solving efforts. Continuous learning is key, and I adapt to new technologies and methodologies while receiving feedback from mentors and peers. This role offers a hands-on experience that prepares me for a career in electrical engineering.

  • During my placement, I was given a considerable amount of responsibility. I was entrusted with conducting technical analyses such as load flow studies, fault analysis, and stability assessments using industry-standard tools like PSS/E, ETAP, and MATLAB/Simulink. I also assisted senior engineers in preparing technical reports, project proposals, and cost estimates. My role involved participating in field visits and inspections to ensure project compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, I engaged in research and development activities, exploring innovative solutions for improving power system efficiency. Collaborating with project teams and providing technical support further underscored the trust placed in me. This level of responsibility significantly contributed to my professional development and practical understanding of power systems engineering.
