Overview
I had exposure on a range of massive contracts procuring a wide range of goods and services. I have also gained a deeper understanding of how to procure goods and services in a utility industry. I interact with different stakeholders to perform different parts of the procurement process.
Skills
Skills I have learned: stakeholder management, negotiation, presenting, excel, self reflection and increased commercial awareness
Responsibilities
Yes I was in charge of generating and negotiating different contracts on my own. I also, was given the opportunity to organise multiple off-site and team days. Also, was a sole point of contract for multiple stakeholders responsible to manage any queries and solving issues they had.
Support & Guidance
There was lots of support with in person and online training courses. There is also a support network within the team you are placed as well as individuals outside of your team who are separate and help develop your personal experience and can help if you are struggling with any issues within your team.
Culture
Really supportive of any questions that you have. Everyone is welcoming and more than happy to explain their area of the business.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. A very supportive opportunity to get involved and start in the corporate world. It also offered multiple training opportunities to develop technical and soft skill.
Yes
As long as you prove you ability to adapt and learn you don't need excessive industry knowledge. Lots of people from different courses learn about the industry when they start and there's.lots of support.
