Overview
In my role, I handled IT incidents raised by Aldi stores across the country, relating to POS systems, self-checkouts, ordering and back-office systems, store networks, and mobile devices. I participated in a variety of projects to improve IT processes as well as rolling out national hardware and software deployments. Additionally, I was involved in vendor management of Aldi's external hardware support vendors, conducting data analysis and evaluating insights to enhance service delivery and support to stores.
Skills
I have gained technical skills, working with a variety of software (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence) and programming languages (Command Line, PowerShell, SQL). I have also developed soft skills, such as effective communication through frequent collaboration with other teams, adaptability to the challenges faced in fast-paced Aldi stores, and problem-solving through resolving a variety of IT issues.
Responsibilities
I was given the opportunity to work on my own projects, although I always had support and guidance available when needed.
Support & Guidance
The team maintained a collaborative and supportive environment. I also had regular meetings with my team leader to discuss any challenges I was facing.
Culture
Overall, there is a positive, collaborative atmosphere driven by a dynamic team environment.
Your Impressions
Overall, I really enjoyed my placement, as I was a part of a friendly, supportive team, and had great opportunities to develop professionally. I had exposure to a variety of different areas of IT, which was extremely valuable.

Always been keen to learn and take on challenges. Ask questions and embrace opportunities, even if they are outside your comfort zone.
