    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work in the Powertrain domain, more specifically in the High Voltage Systems team. In here I was tasked to shadow several senior colleagues in the team, and was involved in several projects. I had experiences in both Power Electronics and Systems Engineering, but I ended up working more on the Systems Engineering aspects. I work from 8-5 everyday with a hybrid working pattern.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Learned a lot about Power Electronics knowledge and Systems Engineering (more specifically, Model-Based Systems Engineering). Learned to use several new software used in industry. Also learned a lot about Agile and how feature and attribute delivery in a company progresses.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a good amount of support and guidance. One downside is that there is no "fixed" hybrid working pattern in my team. Hence, it's a bit hard to try and meet someone in the office, as everything is pretty much online.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I feel like I was given the correct amount of work and tasks as a current student undergoing a placement. I learned not only about the industry and the job role, but about the modern workplace and habits too. One thing I think I would prefer is if my team was more present in the office. As a placement student, being in-person in my team would be a lot more interactive.
