Overview
Writing and testing code. Attending meetings and planning sessions. Reviewing other engineer's code.
Skills
Significantly developed C, C++, git, linux and python development skills. Also have developed soft skills such as interacting with manager, team members, stakeholders etc. Also developed my confidence in my own ability to get work done.
Responsibilities
I was given the same amount of responsibility as a full time employee.
Support & Guidance
This is highly dependent on what team you are in but on average there is adequate support when it comes to learning new skills and technologies. Equally you need to be proactive in seeking out this support as well as learning independently when there is not enough support.
Culture
Good company culture with a focus on employee welfare also as an undergraduate minimal pressure/stress is put on your shoulders. Deadlines are loosely enforced.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement and learnt a lot of technical and soft skills as well as experiencing significant personal growth. I am very happy with my decision to take a placement year at JLR.
