    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, since this is my first job in the corporate world I have improved my social skills leaps and bounds. Especially being in the North west I'm am surrounded by people who I wouldn't normally interact with. This had led to be becoming more well rounded and easier to talk to.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • For a long time no. First 5 months I hadn't been assigned a significant project. However once I had a project the level of responsibility went up. However, there were always more senior people checking over everything so I often felt like I was slowing everything down.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Meetings with manager was very infrequent and he was often away. I had to do all the leg work asking for work as work was not often given to me. There was support from early careers however and I had several meetings with them to express how I was feeling and what I wanted done about that

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • General company culture was good, most people were friendly and helpful. Company makes an effort to put on events for things like religious holidays and events like PRIDE. Office culture could be slightly toxic often hearing about colleagues talking behind other colleagues backs my self included. But I imagine this is experienced is almost every office.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I definitely enjoyed certain aspects such as going on trips and to events. However the day to day work wasn't peaking my interest or making the most of my skill set. Furthermore, I don't believe the factory environment is the environment I want to be in.
