    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I simulate our transmission systems using a software called ROMAX, I collect and analyse data surrounding this system and compare it to previous data. Sometimes I'm called to inspect defects in the engine build line next to us. I'm used as a flexible resource in my home team to create engineering drawings, procure parts, organise parts, transport parts, in-person testing, document writing.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've significantly improved my soft and hard skills. I have expanded my knowledge surrounding electrification of vehicles, Engineering practises and technical knowledge around gears and bearings. I have also improved my in-person skills such as presenting, public speaking, clear communication, critical thinking and problem solving as part of a team.

They treated me like a true member of the team and treated me with respect. I was involved in various tasks and procedures that required me to be very responsible with my time-planning and attention to detail.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved my placement. If I wanted to do something, you could push and just do it. I've set up racing tournaments and had loads of socials. You were rewarded for hard work and incentivised to do your very best. I met loads of new people and had such varied experiences across the company. I got to go and drive the cars and see all the sites, I got to experience many different teams. It was great
