  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Work in an agile manner to complete tasks and projects that relate to enhancing the platforms which support the whole customer experience, from the live chat and call centres, to the design of our support and contact pages.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt about maintaining interpersonal relationships in a professional environment, and the importance of balancing diplomacy with stern asks to ensure all workstreams are flowing as expected. I have learnt about working in an agile manner, and to 'measure twice and cut once' when working on projects which involve many stakeholders and floating opinions.

    Responsibilities

  • I was given far more responsibility then I ever could've imagined, leading with real projects that resulted in real outcomes on a regular basis. You are treated as a professional, and expect to act as one in return.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • You receive a good amount of guidance from colleagues in the early days, but are quickly thrown in the deep end which I believe is the best way to learn. There are regular intervals throughout the year, and open touchpoints, where you can find support if necessary.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Being a Korean company, the cultural infrastructure is unique and can occasionally clash with the British one. This will funnel down the hierarchy when decisions are made, often causing clashes within the team. The office, however, is very unique and spacious - making for a very inviting place to go and work. The teams are great and well managed.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved my placement year at Samsung, and am very grateful for the opportunity. As prior mentioned, you quickly feel like a staple member of the team, and have the responsibility and rewards to boot. The hybrid working is really helpful, as there are pros and cons to both and you are able to decide which days you'd like to come in.

  • Be confident in your procurement process, show off not just your technical skills but your personality, as this will take you even further. Always be open to any work given to you and offer your opinion and advice to others in a professional manner.
