Overview
Ensuring that all marketing activity is aligned from a ‘brand guardianship’ perspective. Also dealing with all projects relating to SEUK brand ambassadors.
Skills
A wide range of skills were learnt - day-to-day time management and admin tasks, but also transferable skills such as raising finance POs and liaising with the legal team on formulating contracts. I’ve also networked with internal stakeholders across different departments, as well as various external agencies (e.g. advertising, media, talent management, etc.)
Responsibilities
Definitely - this is a proper job, and not just medial tasks given to interns. You are a valued member of the team and participate in impactful work, reflected within business output.
Support & Guidance
I had a fantastic relationship across the line managers I was assigned throughout my placement year. The wider team also acknowledges that you are a placement student, and do not have pre-conceptions of your skill levels. Personally, I never felt uncomfortable or scared to approach my manager with questions about my job/tasks, even if they seemed basic or obvious.
Culture
Samsung’s South Korean culture and heritage remains prominent across the business (e.g. choosing between ‘Western’ vs ‘Korean’ delicacies for lunch). This meant that I learnt a lot. Additionally, you are able to interact with lots of Korean colleagues and understand their ways of work. Samsung’s values are genuine and feel embedded into the working life.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed this placement and would highly recommend it. This has equipped me with a strong skillset for university and my future career. Having Samsung’s name on my CV and the experiences I’ve handled have been invaluable for both my personal development and career prospects.
