Overview
In my store time my role involved communicating with the store team on any information that needed to be cascaded. Also planning out the daily tasks for the shift. Throughout my placement I managed people and processes and also undertook projects to work on and create effective solutions.
Skills
One of the skills/qualities that I have developed is management/leadership. Before my placement I had very little experience in managing people or processes or being a leader. Throughout the entirety of my placement I have been able to develop my leadership skills and learn how to become an effective manager.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given a great amount of responsibility. I was able to manage a store team of about 20 members of staff. Also during my projects I was responsible with coming up with solutions in order to improve performance.
Support & Guidance
I was given constant feedback and support throughout my placement. I had weekly meetings with my mentor where a variety of topics were discussed. Regular catch-ups with upper-management were also in place
Culture
The company culture was positive and inclusive. I constantly felt motivated and driven to push for improvement and always felt supported and appreciated for the work I was doing
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement very much. I know that it is going to be very beneficial to me in terms of going back to university and also in my career
Yes
I would suggest that if anyone is questioning whether they apply they should 100% apply. Advice that I would give to anyone starting a placement is make sure they enjoy the year, asks lot's of questions, take every opportunity that is presented and constantly learn and develop
