    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Accounting entries and variance analysis for all regions outside USA. Includes cash settlement analysis accounting and corporate global FP&A, analyzing difference between actual and budgets. Post payroll accruals such as bonuses and corporate payroll. Post revenue and revenue reclass for hotel fees. Present balance sheet and P&L variances monthly to global directors and VPs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Excel is much better and comfortable with complicated formula on large data sheets. Public speaking as presenting in front of large teams variance analysis. Accounting in industry, outside of a university module and how large global businesses operate. Teamwork as the global nature of the company means that you have to work with a variety of people, many not speaking great English.

  • Yes, I had set specific tasks I was fully responsible for, some of which were tasks containing millions of pounds and high risk.

  • Lots there was a full training period at the start and with further training and development throughout the year. Line manager and team manager are always there to fully help if needed.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very relaxed with a get the work done mentality, with flexible WFH and work hours outside of month and quarter end. Lots of social events fully expensed by social committee after work and large intern cohort so lots of socializing and potential to make friends.

  • In interviews find ways to stand out, for graduate jobs this can be done with better technical knowledge as many don't have this as Graduates
